Asset Protection

Britain has the world's largest trade in antiques and fine arts, and the scale of theft is escalating. The Council for the Prevention of Art Theft estimated that £50m of fine art and antiques are stolen in Britain every year. Art security is now a major issue. We install the first wireless, real-time, automated tracking, audit and art alarm system specifically for the art market.

Designed for protecting ‘Art’
Galleries, museums, private collectors, corporations and public institutions can now protect valuable works of art, paintings, installations and ceramics where conventional security systems are inadequate or even turned off (during viewing times).

Real time
The system displays the real-time location and status of any tagged artwork on a second-by-second basis, and will immediately alarm if it is disturbed in a way that breaks the programmable alarm rules.

Tags
Tags are credit card size or smaller and are discretely attached to works of art. They are in constant radio communication with radio frequency identification sensors located in the protected areas.

Tags can have different functionality; e.g., tags for art on display contain vibration sensors - if a piece is moved without authorisation a "real-time" gallery alarm is generated in the software, giving security controllers information about the incident as it happens. Buddy tags can be used to enable moving protected pieces within a defined area.

The software audits the collection nearly 6,000 times a day, displaying the up-to-date location of all tagged works.

All tags contain a magnetic tamper switch to detect when a tag is removed.

Highlights
  • Each work of art is protected by a uniquely numbered tag
  • Tags transmit every 15 seconds and last more than 5 years
  • System entirely covert in the gallery/museum
  • Continually monitors system infrastructure and sensors
  • Audits an art collection automatically nearly 6,000 times a day
  • Real time graphical alarms show details of the work of art and its location
  • Can detect a canvas being cut from its frame
  • Integrates seamlessly with existing security systems e.g. CCTV, door control, pagers, e-mail, off-site monitoring or basic audio-visual alarms
  • Various tag attachment methods
  • Quick, easy, modular installation of tag readers
  • Comprehensive collection database
  • Works in storage, transit or on display
  • Can easily locate an item within a building, negating the need for frequent time-consuming physical audits and inventories.

Not confined to the Art World
This system can be installed in any environment, which has items of value to protect.
